Are you and your family prepared for a life-threatening emergency? The American Red Cross San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter encourages all San Diegans to learn safety and preparedness skills at Save A Life San Diego, a free event being held at the Balboa Park Municipal Gymnasium on May 12, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

At the event, the Red Cross will teach San Diego families emergency preparedness, safety tips, and life-saving skills such as hands-only CPR training, a potentially lifesaving technique involving no mouth-to-mouth contact. Shortened Red Cross safety sessions on basic first aid, AED (automated external defibrillator) training, water safety and hands-only CPR will be offered on the hour, starting at 9:00 a.m. with the last sessions beginning at 1:00 p.m. The sessions will last approximately 45 minutes to one hour and are all free of charge. Children are encouraged to participate with their parents, and families can also enjoy a puppet show together about emergency and disaster preparedness.
